Refresh, Reset, Rebuild
When a long period of time has passed between writing, its a good idea to go back and refresh your storyline. Attack your story with a fresh perspective allowing yourself to explore new avenues for your characters to go down.
Resetting a storyline allows the possibility for favorite characters to be killed off or change into a bad character. This will open new avenues and allow the story to continue in ways you might not thought possible. Rebuilding your storylines allows you to take chances, staying with a storyline too long can make the characters seem stale and impassive.
Now, that your refreshed and ready to jump back into it.... open up your mind and look at each character in your book, change their paths and see were the story will take you.
